Grant Writer | Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation
This position will work closely with the leadership team to pursue grants on behalf of the foundation in an expedited time frame. The position will be part time (TBD) and report to the Founding director. There may be potential for an extension of work. The right candidate will work independently, efficiently and must have grant writing experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Building upon the current profile of foundation grantors, research and identify new grant prospects that could fund operations, capacity and programming as well as advise leadership team on which ones to approach and how. Include in the research interviews.
-Work with leadership team to interpret guidelines, timelines, and gather material and information necessary for a strong grant choice and proposal.
-Write grant proposal for grants within established deadline, prepare a grant draft for review. After receiving and applying feedback, prepare the final proposal for submission.
-Participate in meetings (mutually agreed arrangement) to get familiar with foundation mission and vision necessary to accomplish required work.
Education and experience ~ Bachelor’s degree in communications, English or related experience. 2-4 years of grant writing with a proved track record of success. (Or combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work).
License and certifications ~ Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work related travel
Skills and abilities ~ Experience writing and monitoring grants, excellent grammar, and search skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure. Critical think/writer, able to analyze and interpret date, and relate to strategic plans of foundation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written). Work independently and within a team, with initiative, yet accept direction. Ability to understand and navigate the needs and limitations of the foundation and funder for the strongest application. Ability to access grant making databases and philanthropic leaders and influencers that fund the foundations interests and needs.
COMPENSATION: $30 to $50 per hour (DOE)
