An anniversary event – 15 years in the making!

On Sunday, September 7th, the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation will proudly host the 15th Annual Race for A Soldier in Gig Harbor, featuring both 12K and 5K races, along with a VIRTUAL option! This beloved community tradition honors the courage and sacrifice of our military service members, and first responders – and pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation and our communities.

We are deeply honored this year to welcome the women and men of the Washington Army and Air National Guard in support of our Opening Ceremonies. Blackhawk helicopters will be flown by WA ARNG pilots and guided on the ground by Air National Guard TACPs, a powerful and moving demonstration of service. Our sincere thanks go to the Soldiers, Airmen, and leadership teams who are making this tribute possible.

We are also thrilled to feature Evangelo “Vann” Morris – Nationally renowned speaker, retired U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer, Afghanistan combat veteran, and founder of Healing America – performing his stirring piece, “Old Glory – If This Flag Could Speak”. This unforgettable presentation shares the rich history of our nation’s flag and the enduring spirit of those who protect it.

Be there at 7:30 AM at the Tom Taylor YMCA to experience this extraordinary start to our 15th Annual Race for A Soldier. Your presence and voice will help us honor our heroes and celebrate the strength of our community.

We appreciate our neighbors’ understanding for any brief helicopter noise during the ceremony – it’s the sound of tribute and gratitude in action!
