We are committed to the future and well being of our veterans and first responders.

The Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation is committed to finding the best tools and training to enhance the mind, body and spiritual wellbeing of our nation’s veterans, first responders and their family members. We believe they should be provided the very best programs that help restore their lives and overcome the trauma they face while serving their country and communities.

Warrior PATHH in the Pacific Northwest

The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation has brought Warrior PATHH training to our community here in the Pacific Northwest, in partnership with the Avalon Action Alliance. Our partnership with them has served to magnify our strength and resolve in providing support for our veterans and first responders, both advancing our reach and accelerating our progress potential significantly. We now offer PATHH programs in the PNW for both male and female combat veterans, active-duty personnel, and first responders – and no clinical diagnosis of any kind is required to attend. Warrior PATHH is designed to harness the power of the first responder’s training and field experience, and the veteran’s military training and combat experience, to enable our warriors to unlock their remarkable potential at home. Once that potential is unlocked, the positive ripple effects through their families and our communities are profound. Our commitment to this training is pinned upon our knowledge that trauma does not need to diminish vitality or cause our veterans and first responders to live a diminished life.

The latest in Boulder Crest Foundation’s “Struggle to Strength” Film Series, “Breakthrough” tells the story of how we can use struggle to catapult ourselves into growth and transformation. Boulder Crest launched this film series in an effort to raise awareness of “the possibility of thriving – not just surviving – after trauma.” And this latest film is a profound reminder that we all carry burdens, and the lifelong practice we must undergo “as we transform struggle into strength, hope, and growth.”

Below this video, you can also watch the first and second installments in Boulder Crest’s film series, “On Duty” and “Reborn” and we encourage you to learn more about Boulder Crest and their full library of resources HERE

PROGRAMS

The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation understands the value of providing strength-based programs for mental, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Monthly Huddles

Trauma does not discriminate. Those who experience it need connection to others. Monthly meetings welcome warriors and first responders to meet them where they are.

Post-Traumatic Growth Workshops

Growth and hope can coexist with grief and trauma. There will be ups and downs. These workshops focus on healthy and life affirming tools that develop self-regulation rather than self-medication

Warrior PATHH

Warrior PATHH is a transformative, lifelong, Post-Traumatic Growth-based training program for combat veterans and first responders. The training begins with a 7-day on-site initiation that is followed by 18 months of training delivered by our instructors through our myPATHH platform.

Events

Part of our mission is to raise awareness and funding for programs that enrich the lives of soldiers and their families in a tangible way. Our events have been embraced by the community, sponsors and media alike.

As a mother and military member who has lost her son, an Army veteran, to suicide because of PTSD and the trauma of war; the Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation has given me hope that there are real opportunities for Post-Traumatic growth and healing right here in the PNW. This organization has found real alternative programs and follow up care, to give tools to combat hopelessness, and make positive changes in veterans, active duty, and first responders. When I reached out after my loss, with open arms of compassion they brought me in and gave me hope.

The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation has had a direct impact on the lives of combat veterans with PTSD through our local and national programs. They are partners in our efforts to develop alternative methods for overcoming PTSD through empowering both local and national vet-run projects. The Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation is what all veteran service organizations should strive to be: in the trenches empowering veterans through local community support.

I have dealt with the Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation on several levels, and I think the most amazing thing that the organization does is one of the hardest things to do in this field. Leslie and her team have learned how to connect the civilian populace to veterans and vice-verse. In a culture where there is a certain level of discomfort when these two disparate groups meet, Leslie has cracked the code and helped both groups understand how to communicate and take care of one another. This is a talent few other organizations have, and is why I support them whenever I have the opportunity.

Teaching resilience through my personal story of 9/11 survival to the heroes who picked up the flag when we were down and out is one of the most rewarding ways I can respect and remember the lives of my friends who were taken too soon. Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation is a great way to reach our heroes who need to hear that story. I hope it helps them see the light of a beautiful life.

For the Seattle Seahawks, Permission To Start Dreaming has educated us on the nature of PTSD problems and solutions, and provided us with a way to give back to service members and their families. It has been invigorating to be involved in the Foundation’s professional and effective support of service men and women who have given so much to our country.
